Hi CPK! Welcome to the Family

For Connor, the waiting truly was the hardest part, as so far he’s been as chill as can be.  We showed up at the hospital at 130 am and waited...and waited...and waited.  We took some naps, went out for pancake breakfast, read my book (while Jake napped), and wandered the hallways of the L&D unit.  Then it happened...we waited some more...

Abbi, our surrogate, had it worse.  Her waiting was restricted to her room for 18 straight hours.  She was a true champ!

Then it really happened.  CPK joined the Kleinmahon family and was a very healthy, very plump 8 pounds, 6 ounces.  Jake and I were expecting (and mentally prepared for) the Isabel experience – a combined 10 minutes of sleep while the baby screams or cries for 23.8 of the first 24 hours.

Connor cried just a little bit, but generally seemed content to be here.  Instead of crying CPK gives us adorable squeaks, grunts, and beeps.  Over his first night, Jake and I each got at least 6 or 7 hours of sleep.  We FaceTimed Isabel a few times and she seemed excited to meet him. Although I’m pretty sure she thought we went to Colorado to just pick out a baby brother from the store.

Meanwhile in New Orleans, Isabel is loving her “Nana Time.”  She gets to go shopping for ‘Big sister’ clothing and presents and “nap time was canceled due to lack of interest” while she played hooky from School Thursday and Friday.
