Up until this point, Isabel has done amazingly in her big girl bed. In fact, it seems like she doesn’t quite realize she can get out whenever she wants. Instead, she wakes up and plays with her stuffed animals and ‘reads’ books that we leave in her bed at night time. She will call for Dad or Daddy to come get her out of bed…it’s adorable.
But…surprise…all good things must come to an end…
Now that Connor is home, Isabel is a little more curious on what is going on beyond her bedroom walls at night. On the 2nd night Connor was home, Isabel heard us putting him to bed and decided to investigate. She said “dad” and when no one responded, she decided the coast was clear for her escape. She quickly got off the bed, walked through the Jack & Jill bathroom, into Connor’s room, into the hallway, and finally opened the door to our bedroom to find us still awake and watching tv. She stood the shocked. We sat there shocked. No one really knew how to react…
Do we laugh? (Answer: No. Not unless we want this to be a regular occurrence)
Do we scold her? (No. We didn’t think she did anything worth scolding)
Do we invite her into our bed because she’s scared (answer: no!)
Instead, Jake got up and walked her back into her room and said she wasn’t allowed to go into Connor’s room without an adult.
And…so far it’s worked. She hasn’t gotten out of bed again or tried another escape.
